You can sponsor Mike McCulley and Brewster Shaw in the Houston Food Bank Marathon this Sunday (Jan. 15th). Any donation would be welcome and put to good use. Go to http://www.active.com/donations/campaign_public.cfm?key=hfbmarathon then select View Fundraising Pages to find Mike and Brewster's web pages. [If you're in a real giving mood then contribute at my buddy John Burkhardt's web page as well.] Thanks!

From the Houston Chronicle:
quote:
In the final accounting, a combined 17,779 runners headed out early Sunday morning for the Chevron Houston Marathon, the Aramco Half Marathon and the Houston Press/Smart Financial 5K run.

No, make that 17,780.

Astronaut Bill McArthur must be included, too. It seems McArthur also completed the half-marathon on a treadmill aboard the international space station some 200 miles above the Earth.
