While looking thru some old space covers I haven't seen in a while, I saw a space cover that was always one of my favorites. It's an impressive Apollo 17 launch cover that has a beautiful cachet designed by Paul Calle and is franked with the famous Apollo 11 moon landing stamp also designed by him. As a final touch, Paul Calle's autograph is applied at the bottom. |

What two photos and astronauts did Calle use when he painted this image? I'm pretty sure I know so I'm interested in what other collectSPACE members think. |

This is a great cover and surprisingly one I don't have!My father tells me he let a Houston Stamp Club use this image for their cover in the early 1970's. Chris www.callespaceart.com |

Indeed, one of my favorite Apollo-related cachet covers. Mine came from the NASA Exchange Council here at Kennedy Space Center for the Apollo 17 launch in Dec. 1972. Looks like your Dad, Chris, used a famous scene from the Mt. Hadley lunar landing site with Irwin posed in the center. There is also an insert card inside, printed on both sides, with a picture of Paul Calle along with a brief bio of him and his superb artwork. Chris, I am sure there is an extra one of these in my cover files somewhere and I'll be happy to send one your way, in addition with some other special issues that your Dad was involved with. |

Thanks Ken, that would be terrific. For anyone interested, my dad is always happy to sign First Day Covers of his stamp designs. |
