Can you please advise what is the difference in usage between these Cape Canaveral postmarks? One is quite common another is less frequent.

Both are somewhat standard issues for space cover cancels at CCPO. The large circular cancel was mainly ordered for philatelic uses, however, the cancel impression was too big to fit all cachet cover sizes. So a second cancel device, used mostly for routine or internal-office applications, was located at the Cape postal station. It's the top depiction that has the four killer bars. |

Where was this STS-1 landing date postmarked there at the Cape? What exactly was "Five Points Station"? |

The Five Points Station post office is a small substation of the main Cocoa, FL, postal unit. It's located on Lake Dr. north of W. King Street (SR-520), less than a mile west from the Cocoa Village area along the Indian River. I've only used it once or twice, that I can recall, during the early shuttle program years. The station is still in use today. |
