On October 14, 2012, Austrian skydiver Felix Baumgartner was launched aboard a helium balloon from Roswell, New Mexico, and after achieving a height of approximately 24 miles (39 kilometers) into the stratosphere jumped out of his capsule and began a freefall to Earth. On his decent he became the first parachutist to break the sound barrier. The project was funded and promoted by Red Bull and was called "The Mission to the Edge of Space." My gratitude and thanks to the staff at Red Bull Stratos for providing me with their program mission patch and project logo for use on my commemorative covers. About half the envelopes I produced were sent back to Red Bull for their company files. More information on this incredible project can be found here.
