Over the last few years I have seen a considerable number of small graphite "exhaust rudders" for sale, which the sellers say are from the Nazi A5 rocket (which was a small test version of the A4/V-2). They seem in fact to be more common than V-2 rudders, which seems a bit odd as apparently only 25 A5 rockets were built, yet hundreds of V-2 rockets were constructed. Does anyone know whether these supposed A5 rudders are really from this rocket, or were they perhaps from another missile? I suppose one possibility is that many A5 rudders were produced but never used, and that they survived in a storeroom in Peenemünde... | |
