derek | My favorite photo is Scott with LRV at the edge of Hadley Rille,Schmitt with the flag and earth a close second, what do the rest of you think? A top 100 would,nt be nearly enough..... ------------------
|
uzzi69 | I'll have to go with Aldrin's classic pose, although any lunar EVA photo would do. Schmitt's photo at Split Rock is also a nice one. Regards, Bill uzzi69 |
randy | One of my favorites is Dave Scott saluting the flag, with Mt. Hadley in the background and Falcon off to the side. |
mark plas | earth over boulder at apollo 17 station 2. Mark |
astronut | Tuff question! 1)The B&W Earthrise taken by Bill Anders on A8. 2)Several of the shots of Ed White's EVA on GT4 3)"Visor" shot of Aldrin during A11 EVA 4)"Gunfighter" pose of Cernan by flag during A17 EVA 5)Any of the B&W shots of the Appenine (sp?) mountains during A15 EVA ------------------ Happy trails, Wayno "...you are go for TLI." www.TransLunarInjection.com |
mikepf | This is a great topic. So many amazing images! I've always been most fascinated by the photos of the Gemini 6 and 7 Rendezvous. The images themselves are incredibly beautiful, but also represent one of the most momentous events in space history. Learning that rendezvous could be done made all the rest possible. Regards, Mike

ALAIN | The first color photos taken by Viking I and Viking II landers at Mars ! |
Paul | A shot of any one of the LEM's pulling away from the Command Module as they prepare for their descent to the Lunar surface!! An ugly machine (the LEM), but a very capable and wonderfully engineered spacecraft!! Paul |
NC Apollo Fan | My top choices, in no particular order would be: Irwin saluting the flag. The Aldrin "visor" shot. Schmitt with the flag and the Earth. Jonathan |
Jacqueline | One of my all time favourites is the historical photo of Deke Slayton and Alexei Leonov shaking hands as they orbited the Earth. Back in 1975 this really was an historical act. Something I think alot of the youngsters today would find hard to understand. Jacqueline PS...oh yes I also like ALL the moonlanding photos too!!!!! |
Leon Ford | Of all the fantastic shots to come out of the space program, my favorite shots are of Ed White's spacewalk. Leon |
laz2001 | Schmitt with the flag and Earth - it's been the wallpaper on my PC since I bought one of the NASA lithos and scanned it in (nearly 2 years). |
poolman18 | Dave Scott(Apollo 15) coming off the rover with his camera in hand and Hadley in the backgound. David
|
Keith Barber | One of my favourites is Young during his second EVA,he is replacing tools back into the carrier on the LRV,Smokey Mountain is in the back ground and is a B&W picture PLUS apollo 8 earthrise/Aldrin visor are classics.I could start listing quite a few more when I come to think of it but more the B&W shots from Apollo 15-17 missions grab my attention as they show more detail. |
Rodina | Voyager 1's (maybe it was 2) parting shot of Saturn, with the shadow cutting across the rings. Wow.

Ben | Too many to choose just one, but here are two of my favorites; my favorite shuttle in space photos for sure: http://www.spaceflight.nasa.gov/gallery/images/shuttle/sts-98/lores/iss01e5390.jpg http://www.spaceflight.nasa.gov/gallery/images/shuttle/sts-98/lores/iss01e5392.jpg ------------------ ______ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ -Ben http://www.geocities.com/ovcolumbia/totaleclipse.html "'Time was invented to keep everything from happening at the same time. WAWalsh | I agree that this is nearly an impossible question to answer with a single picture. If I had a large office wall to use (similar to the walls you see in a congressional member's office), it would be packed with numerous photos, including * each Moonwalker with the U.S. flag (using the one of Armstrong at the LM)(no idea what to do for Bean) * several of Ed White's walk in space * Al Shepard's Mercury Redstone launch * the double exposure of GT-6 and GT-7 launches * GT-7 from GT-6 (love those photos) * Apollo 1 informal pose at the Cape * various Saturn V rollouts * Apollo 8's Earthrise * Apollo 11 footprint photo * Apollo 11's (Collin's) photo of the upper stage of the LM approaching Columbia * Apollo 17's night launch * Apollo 17 recovery with carrier in background * various lunar landscape photos * STS-26 launch * Columiba's first launch * other shuttle launches * a whole section dedicated shuttle era EVA's * the ISS at various stages On a second wall, a single photo of Mars with the caption under it of "When?"

Aztecdoug | Earthrise Okay, now for a comment... that STS-26 launch while it was significant taking us back to space, it was also a real beaut! I just printed a couple of those launch photos and the clouds etc are absolutely stunning. When I saw that one listed above I just had to pipe up about it. Now, in that vein, perhaps the Apollo 7 launch. It was a back to space launch after Apollo 1. Plus it was the opening scene in the last act of the play that would lead us to stepping foot on the Moon. ------------------ Warm Regards Douglas Henry Enjoy yourself and have fun.... it is only a hobby! |
John K. Rochester | I personally like the shot from the rescue chopper of Gemini 8 with Neil relaxing in the open hatch in his shades.. |
spaceuk | The young von Braun in a white coat with a small test rocket on his shoulder. "From little acorns .........." |
