T O P I C R E V I E WGilbertHas anyone ever had any trouble renewing their National Space Society membership? I renewed last September (2003) and have still not received a letter of confirmation, an issue of Ad Astra, nothing. Of course they charged my credit card immediately but nearly 5 months later I've still heard nothing. I have emailed thenm several times using the address listed on the site, no reply. I have called twice and talked to two different clueless individuals. This is really irritating me. It looks like it could be time to renew again before I get a response from them. What a great way to run a supposedly progressive organization. I am thinking of dropping out permanently after this debacle is over.Robert PearlmanGilbert, as you may know I serve on the Board of Directors for the National Space Society. I apologize on behalf of the NSS for the long delay processing your renewal. The NSS headquarters has been and is currently under transition. Physically, the office is moving from its current location to one nearer the White House. Further, an association management company has been retained to provide better service to members and the membership database (used to process renewals among other services) is being upgraded. Unfortunately, while these actions were and are being finalized, membership records have been waiting. Please rest assured that once normal operations are resumed, that your renewal will be given the attention it deserves and you will receive all materials you are due. If I can be of any assistance, please let me know at robert@collectspace.com.[This message has been edited by Robert Pearlman (edited February 10, 2004).]
