ElChristou | Here are some models I've done in the frame of a project to reconstruct in real time 3D within Celestia the Apollo 11 mission. These models are part of many others necessary for the task; we will begin with the extraction of the LM from the Saturn V 3rd stage by the CSM, the whole flight, the moon landing (we will see all the instrument dispatched on ground) and the return to earth with the splash down of Apollo capsule. As we are a very small team and are not specialist of the topic it's a long and hard work but the models released this week can show you that we want it well done! What about a few pictures? For those who don't know Celestia, it's a real time astronomical visualization software of a very high level of expertise. It's an OpenSource project so it is available to everybody. Robert Pearlman | I agree Jurg, though I haven't had a chance to run Celestia for myself the screen shots look phenomenal. I'm also glad to see this offered on a cross-platform package as so many prior efforts have been limited to just one operating system. |

ElChristou | Someone here have some info about the sequence of extraction of the LM by the CSM? Till now I was thinking the CSM took a distance of security before the opening of the SLA; am I completely wrong? |

ElChristou | For Windows users, you can download here a fresh build of Celestia fixing a bug in the code guilty of some strange misplacement of the models. |
ElChristou | We are searching for any blue print or good drawing or good close up shot of the central part of the articulation of the SLA's panels (between the hinges). If anybody know a doc it would help a lot to continue the modelling. |

heng44 | Don't know if this has been mentioned before, but when the LM was extracted from the S-IVB the four panels were not in the open position but completely jettisoned. For the rest the pictures look amazing. |
