T O P I C R E V I E WzoomerukHas anyone had the experience of dining with the astronauts at KSC. http://www.store.yahoo.com/kennedyspacecenter/dinwitas1.html Is it a good idea or is it really aimed at children? Do they sign? Who are likely to attend?PaulthecollectorI was at the very first "Lunch with an Astronaut" featuring Rick Searfoss. To answer you question, it is actually aimed AWAY from children. The food and atmosphere is far more elegant than McDonalds and the children (in our case) were bored and very noisy. It was a great experience though. Through the main course Rick showed a slide show and just basically narrated it and told about his missions. Afterwards, during the desert portion if you will, he talked to the people one table at a time and was very generous with his time. I enjoyed it very much and would recommend that anyone who has the opportunity go.Just my opinionRyanalbatron@aol.comRyan,Thanks for the report. Searfoss is the one astro must used at the Astronaut Encounter. Someone asked if they signed, in Searfoss's case Im sure he wold very politely decline due to "NASA Policy", but just happen to have his already signed stack of lithos available for JUST $20.......like he does at the Astro Encounter. Best,AL JacquelineI'm visiting the Kennedy Space Center again next year. How far in advance to you have to the book the lunch with an astronaut? Does it co-incide with the astronaut encounter?Jacquelinejm6662Jaqueline, I went back in April, get there early and as you enter go round to the information desk and you can book there. It certainly coincided with Astronaut encounter on that day so I would assume it does.JohnJacquelineJohnThanks for the info!JacquelinerandyYou can book online, just visit KennedySpaceCenter.com. They are booking through Dec.Robert PearlmanRandy, unless I have missed something, it appears you can only book until the end of August. Where did you find the extended availability through December?randyIt wasn't on the official KSC web site. It was on one of the 'travel' sites. I'll have to get back with you on which one. I do remember the astronaut scheduled for the time we were going to be there is Bill Pogue, Skylab astronaut.zoomerukIf you email KSC at kscinfo@dncinc.com they will tell you which astronauts are scheduled to appear.Paul
