Cooling system fully operational The Expedition 24 crew had a light-duty day Wednesday as the Loop A cooling system reactivation continued aboard the International Space Station. The reactivation followed Monday's spacewalk, the third in a series of excursions that began Aug. 7 to remove and replace an ammonia coolant pump module that failed July 31. Power restoration to systems affected by the pump module failure is complete and Loop A has been reintegrated back into the station's thermal control system. The Japanese Kibo and European Columbus laboratories also have been reconfigured back into the Loop A cooling system. The space station is scheduled to be fully restored to a normal cooling configuration Thursday when flight engineer Doug Wheelock disconnects a jumper cable that was hooked up to provide backup cooling for the Russian segment.
