Smilies Legend
Our project covers the entire waterfront, which includes social issues, politics, economics, culture, military, commercial applications, technology & engineering, Earth science, and astrophysics, as well as their topics of human flight and planetary probes (non-Earth observation/probes). The majority of our project is written by the community of space historians, supplemented by scientific and engineering experts in their fields and others as needed to cover topics where we could not find "the" experts. All articles were reviewed by professional space historians (me at a minimum in some cases, but many by two or more). Finally, ours includes with each article the best 3-4 sources to find out more about the history of the topic. I believe that is unique to our project. Our encyclopedia will be published next year (2010). All articles are now (as of mid-September 2009) complete, and I am now working on the miscellaneous stuff like glossary, acronym list, etc. These will be done within a month and the manuscript sent to ABC-CLIO for production.
