Is there a website to refer to for updates and collective information? Free parking near that area of DC is always a great lure. Will there be a first day cover? |

The guest speaker for the Space Unit meeting at Napex will be Rear Admiral Carl J. Seiberlich, former Commanding Officer of the USS Hornet (CVS-12) for the Apollo 11 and Apollo 12 recoveries. Is there an agenda for the 4-6 pm window? What time will Admiral Seiberlich speak — at the beginning or the end? Thank you for making this available to us. Looks like a fun event! |

In reply to the above post, Rear Admiral Seiberlich will probably speak in the first hour. He will give a short presentation and then answer questions. |

The Space Unit meeting at NAPEX was attended by eight people (two non-members) who will be sent a membership application and sample copy of the Astrophile. Dennis Dillman and Vice President, John Macco received NAPEX Silver awards for their exhibits on Project Mercury and ASTP. Various topics were discussed among them the search for an Astrophile Editor. Our guest speaker, Rear Admiral Carl Seiberlich who was commanding officer of the Prime Apollo 11 and 12 Recovery ship USS Hornet (CVS-12). He told various stories of his naval career as well as his participation in the recoveries of Apollo 11 and 12. A very interesting participant in the U.S. space program. Next Space Unit meeting will be at BALPEX labor day weekend. Information on meeting time and room will be posted here as well as Space Unit website. |

Being from Europe reading this info just by accident in Google I signed up to reply:Where is this meeting taking place? Sure that I would like to attend to get an autograph from an "known" Seiberlich. — Rudi Seiberlich |

My name is Carl Weimer. I am Admiral Seiberlichs Grandson (named after him)... I was just going over some stuff on the computer, looking for stuff on my grandfather, and I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who still stays up on this stuff. I actually wanted to talk to the Seiberlich from over in Europe... so if you read this, send me an email to cweimer@comcast.net. I actually just got off the phone with him this morning (8:00 AM CST) and he told me there is going to be some type of Aeronautics show in D.C., I believe he already has given a presentation, but I didn't ask if he was doing one again. Anyway, thanks again to everyone who is interested. I know your all of your interests keep him going everyday. |
